New in 2.0
A fresh look, built for speed
PlantoScan 2.0 brings a brand-new Midnight Teal design to iPhone and Android — the same dark navy and teal you see on this site.
New Midnight Teal design
Every screen has been redesigned in the new Midnight Teal look, with photo-first plant cards and clearer care information.
Light and dark mode
Choose light or dark, or let PlantoScan follow your phone's system setting (the default).
Faster plant search
Search plants by the names people actually use — type “snake plant” or “monstera” and jump straight to the care guide.
Identify
Know any plant in seconds
Point your camera at a leaf, flower, tree or mushroom and get a name, a confidence score and a full care guide.
Photo identification
AI recognises more than 100,000 species — houseplants, garden plants, trees, succulents, cacti and wildflowers.
Results with alternatives
Every result shows how sure the match is, plus the next most likely species, so you can confirm the right one — then add it to My Plants with one tap.
Mushroom identification
Identify hundreds of common mushrooms from the US and Europe, with toxicity notes. Never eat a mushroom based on an app — have it checked in person by a qualified expert.
AR Live cardsiPhone only
Scan a plant and a 3D info card stays anchored beside it in the room. Tap it to open the plant's passport or add it to My Plants.
Scan history
Every identification is saved, so you can come back to a plant you scanned on a walk or at the garden centre.
Care
Water and fertilizer, on the right day
PlantoScan turns each plant's needs into water and fertilizer care tasks and reminds you when they're due.
My Plants with photo cards
Your collection as photo cards, each showing what the plant needs next. Synced to your account, so it survives a new phone or a reinstall.
Water and fertilizer reminders
Care tasks for watering and fertilizing every plant, with a push notification on the day they're due.
Today's care
One list of every plant that needs water or fertilizer today, across your whole collection.
Home screen widgets
See which plants need water or fertilizer today right from your home screen, without opening the app.
Weather and weather tips
Local weather and the forecast, with tips on how the weather affects your plants' care.
Complete care guides
Watering, light, humidity, temperature, soil, fertilizer, propagation and toxicity for every plant — shown in °C or °F.
Pet safety
See whether a plant is toxic to cats and dogs, based on ASPCA data — only where ASPCA has a record, never guessed.
Health
Find out what's wrong — and fix it
Yellow leaves, brown tips, spots or pests: health checks tell you what's happening, and the AI plant chat answers your follow-up questions.
Health checks
Snap the problem and get a health score, the likely cause and step-by-step treatment for diseases, pests and care mistakes.
AI plant chat
Tap “Ask about this plant” and ask anything — why it's drooping, when to repot, how to prune. Answers take the plant's details into account, and you can attach a photo.
Wellbeing score
See at a glance how each plant is doing, so you know which ones need attention first.
Health reports
Health checks are kept per plant, so you can see whether a plant is recovering after you change its care.
Light meter
Measure the light at any spot with your phone camera and see which plants will thrive there — before you move one into a dark corner.
Garden
Plan your garden around your climate
For vegetable beds, herbs and flowers outdoors: plan what goes where, and when to sow and plant for your local frost dates.
Garden planner
Lay out your beds, add what you're growing and keep track of plantings and harvests.
Planting calendar
When to sow indoors, sow outdoors, plant out and harvest — worked out from the frost dates where you live.
Frost alerts
Get warned before a frost night so you can cover or bring in tender plants. On iPhone, a frost countdown can also appear as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen.
Together
Share the care
Plants are often a household job. PlantoScan 2.0 lets you share the work — and hand it over when you're away.
Household sharing
Share your plants with the people you live with. Everyone sees the same water and fertilizer tasks and who already took care of them.
Plant-sitter links
Going on holiday? Send a link to your plant sitter. They see exactly which plants need water or fertilizer and can tick tasks off — no app or account needed. The link expires, or you can revoke it any time.
Grow
Your collection, documented
Watch every plant grow over the months and raise new ones from cuttings.
Grow journal
Log photos and notes for each plant. PlantoScan scores each entry for signs of stress so you catch problems early.
Time-lapse
Your journal photos play back as a time-lapse of the plant growing.
Propagation tracker
Log a cutting, follow it from rooting to ready-to-pot, then move it into My Plants with a link back to its parent plant.
Wishlist
Save plants you'd love to own next and find them again when you're at the shop.

- Yes. PlantoScan 2.0 has a light and a dark mode. By default it follows your phone's system setting, and you can pick one manually in the app.
- Can I share my plants with my family or a plant sitter?
- Yes. With household sharing, everyone in your household sees the same plants and water and fertilizer tasks. For holidays, send a plant-sitter link: your sitter sees which plants need care and can tick off tasks without installing the app. The link expires, and you can revoke it at any time.
- Which languages does PlantoScan support?

- Are iPhone and Android the same?
- Nearly. AR Live cards are currently iPhone only (iPhone 12 or newer with iOS 18), frost countdowns as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen are an iPhone feature, and QR share cards are currently Android only. Everything else on this page works on both.
