Learn what grows around you

Mushroom identification

Identify hundreds of common mushrooms from the US and Europe from a photo, with toxicity notes for learning. Never eat a mushroom based on an app.

Wild plants, wildflowers and trees

The same scan recognises more than 100,000 plant species, from wildflowers and grasses to shrubs and trees.

Look-alikes side by side

Every result shows how sure the match is and the next most likely species, a reminder that many species have look-alikes.

Pet toxicity

For plants, see whether they're toxic to cats and dogs, based on ASPCA data. Shown only where ASPCA has a record, never guessed.

Scan history

Every find is saved with its photo, so you can look it up again after your walk.

Questions

Can I eat a mushroom after identifying it with PlantoScan?
No. Never eat a wild mushroom or plant based on an app's identification, including PlantoScan's. Many poisonous mushrooms look like edible ones. Always have it checked in person by a qualified expert first.
Which mushrooms can PlantoScan identify?
PlantoScan identifies hundreds of common mushrooms found in the US and Europe and shows other possible matches. Rare species may not be recognised, which is one more reason never to rely on an app for eating decisions.
Does it also identify wildflowers and trees?
Yes. The same scan recognises more than 100,000 plant species, including wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and trees, each with a care guide and, where ASPCA has a record, pet toxicity information.
Is PlantoScan free?
Yes, PlantoScan is free to download on iPhone and Android. PlantoScan Premium unlocks the premium features as a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription (the yearly plan with a 7-day free trial) or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
